Here she has styled her fresh blonde hair with curled side bangs and a long inverted bob. Next up is what we are going a summer cut for shoulder-length hair. This is a simple style with a blunt cut and a middle part. You can style it straight with a middle or side part, or on those hot summer days, you can even pull it back into a pony. No need to create perfect sections, but be sure to curl strands from mid-shaft all the way to the ends for a super-model look. Curtain bangs are our guilty pleasure for those in-between salon sessions where our bangs don't seem to want to cooperate. Go for a double process to achieve the lightest shade of blonde, and ask your stylist for a bob cut with notched ends.

Blonde balayage hair, cut to the neck’s length, is perfect for anyone wanting to showcase their neckline. A chic, modern haircut can totally change your look with a few expert cuts. Even though there is a dark purple root, we used my favorite block color placement and mixed custom colors to complement each other. This is a formal take on a boho updo simply because it has the sleekness of the barrel roll, but the braids help make it look more relaxed. My favorite is the braids because you cannot beat a pretty braid in any style.
For any color client, I recommend a sulfate-free, color-safe shampoo to maintain the tone and health of the hair. If flat ironing or curling for beach waves, always use a heat protectant when applying heat to your hair. I love the Kenra Hot Spray Heat Protectant, which also acts like a hair spray.

Straight layered cuts like a bob haircut enhance the natural texture of your hair. Having the hair length that suits you is vital as it will frame your facial features quite well.
Have stunning-looking strands with ashy blonde color with curled ends. When having straight hair, you will likely need layers to bring some movement into your strands. Long hair can drag you down so having some layers will help with body and volume. Curling your ends will give your hair some much-needed shape and texture.

The brand's Conditioner for Magnificent Volume leans on natural ingredients like Japanese bamboo and shea butter, plus high-tech polymers meant to moisturize your locks and revitalize brittle strands without weighing them down. After scouring the internet, reading through countless reviews, chatting with two experts for recommendations, and even trying a few top-rated products for ourselves, we found several rinses that live up to their promises. We considered dozens of products, evaluating them on their active ingredients as well as what they do not contain—namely sulfates, which can weigh down fine hair.

Luckily, this gentle and reasonably priced formula avoids that issue and brings moisture and buoyancy with the addition of rosemary extract. It’s also great for a wide range of hair types, Olivia says, including natural hair. Like all of our favorites, the formula is sulfate-free and appropriate for a huge variety of hair types. It’s also vegan and ultra-hydrating, thanks to ingredients like castor and avocado oils. The result is soft, shiny, smooth hair that will have you turning heads the moment you walk through your local Walgreens’ automatic sliding doors and into the parking lot. Three of these suggested products are $16 or less, including Margot Robbie's favorite Nexxus Unbreakable Care Anti-Breakage Shampoo.
An Affordable Pick With High-Quality Ingredients
One of its ingredients, rosemary oil, is especially beneficial if you’re suffering from hormone-related hair loss, Young says. We appreciated how much stronger Shu Uemerua Izumi Tonic Strengthening Rice Water Shampoo made our hair feel during testing thanks to its key ingredient—rice water. Rice water is the starchy water that comes from cooking or soaking rice, and it’s known for being full of vitamins and nutrients. Young recommends it for strengthening strands and preventing breakage, and we noticed these benefits once we incorporated this shampoo into our routine. Science-y brand Virtue uses a human-identical form of keratin in its advanced formulas, meaning the hair recognises it and knows exactly how to put it to good use.

In a 2015 study, participants with androgenetic alopecia used either topical minoxidil or rosemary oil on their scalp. When researchers examined their hair at a three-month and six-month follow-up, both groups experienced equal growth. However, the minoxidil participants experienced more scalp itching than those who used rosemary oil. Levine says the medication minoxidil (commonly known by the brand name Rogaine) can be beneficial for some people with severe hair loss due to androgenetic alopecia and other hair disorders.

Not to mention, I love that strategic ingredients like ginseng, biotin, and vitamin B5 encourage long-term health and fullness to complement the instant gratification as well. Even though Joico is beloved by the expert hairstylists and colorists who cater to celebrity manes, the brand still flies under the radar on the consumer front. That said, I'm here to tell you that its range of professional shampoos and conditioners are some of the best my fragile, fine hair has ever tried, and my most recent fave discovery is this ultimate volumizing partnership. It has the best lather ever, delivers impeccable shine and style potential, in addition to, of course, making hair look way fuller, bouncier, and all-around healthy than when you stepped into the shower. Plus, it even protects your hair against the ultimate adversary—humidity. You may need to use more product than you’re used to for a good lather with this shampoo. We also didn’t notice much difference in overall hair thickness, but our hair improved in many other ways. The powerful scent of tea tree oil might be too strong for those sensitive to smells.
Best for All Hair Types
It can also cause a tingling sensation on your scalp, irritating some people. For revitalized, silky smooth hair with plenty of bounce, Iles’ sulfate- and silicon-free formulas deliver. If you’re browsing your local CVS or Walgreens, this is the one to grab according to Abergel.
Dr. Garshick notes that if used with the full Nioxin System 1, this shampoo makes the perfect base for an effective hair and scalp treatment. However, even using the shampoo alone had us swooning over our thicker, fuller hair. Full of hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and gluco-peptides, Kerastase Densifique Bain Densité Shampoo is a surefire product to both cleanse and strengthen your hair, Dr. Garshick says.
Many formulas weigh strands down, create buildup, or make hair look greasy. Some even promote new hair growth with ingredients like biotin and collagen. But finding the best shampoo for fine hair that will give your hair new life without costing you a fortune can be a frustrating process. For those in search of a product that delivers body and volume without the chemicals, Briogeo’s Blossom & Bloom Volumizing Shampoo is worth considering. The brand uses 94% naturally-derived ingredients to plump flat, fine hair and strengthen strands for long-term fullness. The hero ingredient in this formula is maltodextrin—a plant-based sugar starch—which coats each strand of hair to make it appear fuller.
I’ve had to learn the ingredients to seek out—and avoid (heavy oils are a no-go), tested hundreds of shampoo-conditioner duos, and consulted the pros for their advice. In the end, I’ve been able to determine the 22 best shampoos and conditioners for fine hair. Overall, our favorite shampoo for fine hair is Living Proof Full Shampoo. This silicone-free, sulfate-free formula gently cleanses to remove oil and product buildup, then adds body without leaving behind a residue. For a more affordable option, consider L'Oréal EverPure Sulfate-Free Moisture Shampoo, which rivals luxury brands and adds shine and body to thin hair without sulfates or paraben.
The ability to stop time is a lofty claim — one that comes with a high price tag — but giving Arey a try is certainly cheaper than a lifetime of expensive color treatments. Not only does it help to hydrate and smooth hair, virtually eliminating the need to detangle, it also purportedly helps reverse the natural effects of aging. Just don’t let that cloud your vision regarding the real benefit — which, according to Abergel, is smooth, infinitely manageable, and therefore stylable hair. But how do you pick the shampoo and conditioner that are going to be best for your hair type and give you the head-turning, red-carpet-quality hair you crave?
While this shampoo can cleanse your hair to a degree, you wouldn’t want to replace it with your standard option because the more you use it, the darker and more pigmented it can make your color, says O’Connor. So instead, use it once every few shampoos (four to six washes) to maintain color and upkeep your hair between salon visits, she says. According to O’Connor, blue shampoo is a color-depositing or toning shampoo that can help counteract unwanted orange and brassy tones in your hair. However, according to our experts, like other color-depositing shampoos, blue shampoo won’t cleanse the hair as well as your standard option. But we demand rent from the brassiness and dullness that happens after a few weeks. That’s where color-depositing shampoo (think purple shampoo) comes into the picture.

Even on longer walks, my feet felt well supported, and best of all, there was no break-in period. While the leather feels tough, I get the impression that they will soften over time. During their three years in business, Zendoo has experienced steady growth, and today approximately 9 people work for the design business. None of the employees work even close to full time, but even though the company has a production line to keep up, the two entrepreneurs find a way to make room for the newcomers on their terms. Many of the employees sew leather and textile products, while others are occupied in the company’s kitchen to prepare lunch for their colleagues. The startup business even has its own job consultants who bridge Zendoo with regular companies and pave the way for permanent jobs to employees who are ready to be part of a regular company.
Zendoo’s products are handmade from e.g. surplus leather from ECCO’s production. It is a diverse group that fills the company’s production room in Kolding. Many young people feel the increasing pressure from society to perform, and some of them fall under the pressure and end up as a number in the statistics. In 1998 the first flagship retail store opened on Oxford Street, in London. By 2000, ECCO owned every step of the production process, from design and leather production to branded retail sales. While I enjoyed wearing the Citytray dress shoe and found it to be as comfortable as comparable dress shoes that I have owned previously, my only qualm with this shoe is that they felt slightly oversized. I suspect I would have been just fine with a sample a half size or full size down from my usual size.
The workshop took place as a part of Material Matters, an exhibition hosted by the footwear and lifestyle brand at cultural space and design store 10 Corso Como. Fresh contemporary style with well-lit, open, and connected areas. In every way, the design concept of ECCO’s new studio space in Shanghai oozes collaboration and creativity. Some locations, including the attic and gate house are not wheelchair accessible. The two-story art gallery was built for Hill's magnificent art collection, consisting mainly of Barbizon School of mid-19th century landscape painters. Retractable iron grilles on the windows and doors provided security for the collection and the family's other valuable possessions.
Guided explorations of the mansion and inquiry-based activities will highlight stories from both the Hill family and their domestic employees, with an emphasis on comparing and contrasting past and present. After James J. Hill died in 1916 and his wife died in 1921, the children eventually moved out. In 1925, four of the daughters purchased the house from the estate and donated it to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.

It even had a pipe organ, installed after someone suggested to Hill that other wealthy people had pipe organs in their homes. The house had a hybrid system of gas and electric lighting, with rotary switches on the walls to turn on the electric lights. However, there were no electrical outlets installed, because during that era electricity was only used for lighting. The woodwork in the house is very intricate, with hand-carved woodworking in the central hallway, the formal dining room, and the music room. Other rooms in the house, particularly on the second floor where most of the family members lived, do not have hand carved woodwork, but the woodwork is still richly colored and nicely detailed. To go with the hand carved woodwork in the formal dining room, there was also gold leaf plate on the ceiling.

The mansion cost a total of $931,275, the most expensive house in Minnesota when it finished, and the largest in the state as well. In 1925, the mansion was given to the Catholic Archdiocese of St. Paul and for the next 50 years, it served as an office building, school, and residence for the church. The structure became a National Historic Landmark in 1961, and in 1978 the Minnesota Historical Society purchased the house with funding from the federal government and the Minnesota Legislature. The first floor, in addition to the art gallery, music room, hall, and formal dining room previously mentioned, also had a library, a drawing room, and Mr. Hill's home office.
The Boston firm of Peabody, Stearns, and Furber, which was known for its impressive mansions in Newport, Rhode Island, designed a massive Richardsonian Romanesque style mansion, then very much in fashion. The final cost totaled $931,275.01 including construction, furnishings, and landscaping for the three-acre estate. In 1978, the Archdiocese transferred the mansion to the Minnesota Historical Society, which preserved the building and developed educational activities. Since then, the house has been open to the general public for tours, interpretive programs, and special events.
From stunning Victorian architecture to notorious gangsters, Saint Paul's history is worth exploring. The fourth floor features a stage in a room that could seat 200 people, a grand piano, and gymnastic equipment. The Archdiocese transfers the house to the Minnesota Historical Society for $250,000 for the purposes of historic preservation and cultural programming. Family members purchase the mansion from the Hill estate and gift it to the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. For over fifty-three years, its spaces are used as offices, classrooms, and housing. She moves with her husband, Erasmus Lindley, across the street to the Horace P. Rugg house at 251 Summit.

Newlyweds often lived in the enormous house until their own homes were completed, five of which were close by on Summit Avenue. Hill bought three lots on Summit Avenue in 1882, during an era when wealthy citizens were scrambling to build fashionable homes in the neighborhood. The family previously lived in the Lowertown area in St. Paul, near Ninth and Canada streets.

An elaborate ventilation system, which included twenty-two fireplaces, ensured that air moved freely throughout the house. The house’s total cost, including furnishings and other expenses, came to $931,275.01. By the late 1870s, James Hill’s growing fortunes and family required a larger home that reflected his elevated status within the community. Hill, his wife, Mary, and their children had moved through several homes over the years, mostly in the Lowertown neighborhood of St. Paul.

The mansion was home to the Saint Paul Diocesan Teachers College from 1927 to 1951. It housed various educational programs run by the nearby College of St. Catherine and administrative offices for the Archdiocese. The second floor was where James, Mary, and their daughters had their bedrooms.

The house could be seen from the front on Summit Avenue, and from the back along the river and from downtown St. Paul. Unlike most neighboring homes, the Hills’ house featured finished facades on both its front and back. New residents should be prepared for the cold winters that come with heavy snowfall, as well as the hot, humid summers. It's important to have the right clothing and gear for the changing seasons. When it comes to voting, the Minneapolis metro area tends to lean towards progressive and liberal ideologies.

Hill oversaw the planning, construction, and furnishing of the house as if it were a new branch of the railroad. He rejected stained-glass window designs by Tiffany and Company, saying they were "anything but what I want," and even replaced the architects when they ignored his orders to the stonecutters. He instructed his Boston interior design firm Irving and Casson to finish the project. Their work included a large number of custom furniture pieces on the first and second floors. In 1925, family members donated the house to the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis.

James J. Hill and the day the railroads roiled Wall Street.
As new warehouses and railroad tracks crowded the Lowertown residential area, and as Hill's collection of paintings and sculpture overflowed the house, the Hill family thought it was desirable to move. Hill also realized that recent improvements in home technology, such as electric lighting, plumbing, ventilation, and fireproofing, could be incorporated into a new home. Moreover, since Hill was becoming a socially prominent person in the community, a new home would stand as a tribute to his status as the "Empire Builder". Living in Minneapolis offers a high quality of life with a close-knit community feel. The city boasts a lively arts scene with many theaters, museums, and galleries.

Once slated for demolition, the iconic City House is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The City House facility, formerly know as the Saint Paul Municipal Elevator and Sackhouse, has been restored as a park pavilion and interpretative center situated on piers and cantilevered out over the Mississippi River. Located in downtown Saint Paul at Mill St. and Walnut St. along the Sam Morgan Regional Trail, the facility offers beautiful views of the Mississippi River and the downtown skyline.

When the house was completed in 1891, it was equipped with the most advanced technologies of the day. Built during the transition between gas and electric lighting, the house was designed to include both. For security, windows and doors were wired to an annunciator system that would ring an alarm in the houseman’s room if they were opened unexpectedly.
The church used it for the next fifty-three years as space for offices, residences, and a teacher's college for women. The church preserved it well and did not make any significant alterations, although most of the original furniture was sold during this period. In 1961, the United States Department of the Interior designated the house a National Historic Landmark. The Minnesota Historical Society acquired the house in 1978, after the Archdiocese consolidated its offices elsewhere.
It remains one of the best examples of Richardsonian Romanesque mansions in the country. A resource for reliable information about significant people, places, events, and things in Minnesota history. Solid, substantial, roomy, and comfortable is the new home of James J. Hill and family. There has been no attempt at display, no desire to flaunt an advertisement of wealth in the eyes of the world. Impressive, fine, even grand in the simplicity of design, but after all a St. Paul home.
The Hills planned a house with the latest in modern conveniences where they could receive and entertain nationally known civic and religious leaders. On our sailing, all four of our pre-booked shore excursions were cancelled due to lack of English participants. Generally speaking, only one excursion -- and often none -- were available in English, despite the website's assurance that all excursions are offered in a multitude of languages. The ship attracts lots of passengers sailing with groups of friends and family, so most tables in the restaurants are large; there are only a handful of two-tops.
